| ABOUT ME |
| Hello! My name is Tamra Barr-Linkesh. I am the proud owner of Cakes by Tammy. | |||
Logan says: "I love cake. And Princesses!" |
I pride myself in having a "smaller" bakery, as this allows for more time spent on each cake. I grew up in Washington, Pennsylvania. While attending high school, my first job was icing cookies during the holidays for a local bakery. I then was promoted to the position of salesgirl at the same bakery. I would watch the decorator ice and decorate the cakes and I would think to myself, "I can do that". After graduating high school, with plans of further schooling, I decided to do just that. I picked up an icing bag and that was it: I was hooked. I had always been very artistic, so decorating cakes came easy to me. I worked at that bakery for seven years as their only decorator.
After seven years of cake decorating, I moved to Pittsburgh. I realized I wanted to start my own cake business. However, I took a year off to become a Nanny, and then worked for another bakery in Pittsburgh. |

All the while, I was trying to figure out how to do it on my own. A year later I got the offer of my dreams: The Embassy Suites in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania asked me to be their wedding cake vendor. I thought to myself, "It's now or never", so I took the leap. I then did a local bridal show and from that show on, I never looked back. It's been a wonderful journey so far. I feel so blessed to be given this talent, discover it, and be able to use it! I truly love what I do for a living and I feel it shows in my cakes.
I currently work with three hotels in the Pittsburgh and Moon Township area: The Embassy Suites, The Holiday Inn, and The Crowne Plaza. Last year I was honored to be listed in the "Best of the Best" issue from The Knot Magazine. It was the first year this issue was put out and I can't explain the feeling of being voted for by my former brides. I was very delighted to be listed again for 2008, even though I was put in the Philadelphia section, along with some other Pittsburgh bakeries. I hope that you will consider me for adding that special touch to your wedding day! Please contact me to schedule a meeting, or if you have any questions. I wish you all the best in your planning! |
"How I hope every Cakes by Tammy bride reacts when she sees her cake for the first time" THANK YOU - I would like to thank all my family and friends for their support and love. A special thank you to my mother-in-law Ruth and my sister-in-law Dawn for all their help on baking day. Mere words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for all that they do for me. They are my lifesavers! |
